An annual, nationally registered, day dedicated to honoring our Harbor and Port Masters.
Harbormasters are the stewards of our harbors – the center of our coastal communities. They manage the overall ecosystem, including moorings and docks, harbor uses and harbor users, and interactions between local, state and federal government. Of all of our public stewards (police, EMY, fire etc.) these men and women receive the least recognition.
Harbormaster Appreciation Day* — started by the team at US Harbors as a day to honor all our U.S. harbor and port masters — occurs annually on October 8th, with the inaugural event on Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
* National Harbormaster Appreciation Day is registered with the National Day Archive.
